| Press Release: Feed Your Annual
Thin Mints Craving |
|
Cookie booth sales only come around once a year and
are right around the corner. February 25th - March 14th
start stocking your pantry with those mouth-watering
Samoas, Tagalongs and Do-Si-Dos for $3.50/box all while
supporting your local Girl Scout Council. If you weren't
at home to receive a visit from your neighborhood Girl
Scout, don't fret because it is not too late to buy
cookies. Cookie booths will be located at area
businesses from February 25th - March 14th.
A spoiled palate is not the only effect of purchasing
Girl Scout cookies. Through this annual activity, girls
ages 5-17 learn how to work together as a team, set
goals, and develop plans for reaching those goals.
Additionally they cultivate a sense of business ethics,
public speaking and interpersonal communication skills
and acquire a knowledge in marketing, money management,
and customer service. Proceeds from the annual cookie
sale support Girl Scout program for girls in a 10-parish
service area known as the Girl Scouts - Audubon Council.
If you need an excuse to satisfy that Thin Mint craving,
just remind yourself that you are doing a great thing by
supporting an organization that truly is "Where Girls
Grow Strong"!
To feed your annual thin mints craving, contact Grace
Clymer, Service Unit Chair at (225) 683-9368 or Sherrel
Johnson, Service Unit Manager at (225) 634-2376.

| A Note From The
Editor |
|
A couple of weeks back we moved into the house we
built at The Bluff's and I have been amazed at the
traffic delays that Judy and I have to encounter on our
way to work. Everyday I'm amazed not by the cars but by
the wildlife we encounter. West Feliciana truly is an
outdoor paradise. In the past two weeks I have enjoyed
first hand several of the creatures that live among us.
The deer travel in herds and several times I have had to
stop to let them cross. This morning my traffic jam was
caused by eleven doe. A week ago it was a red fox. He
just trotted down the road in front of me for a hundred
yards with little concern that I was behind him. Then
there was the otter that was crossing the road between
Thompson Creek and the Club house pond. It never got in
a hurry as it caused me to come to a complete stop and
wait on him; when it got to the side of the road, it
stopped and looked back as to say, you can go now.
This is truly a blessed place and those who live and
visit here should consider themselves fortunate to have
the opportunity to do so; I know I do. It also means
that we have a responsibility to make sure that whatever
the future brings in our growth, it is not at the
expense of what we have. Now every morning and every
evening, I look forward to the traffic delays that I
hope to encounter. Steve
